Fire Contact Staff Details
These staves are really made to last using structural grade aluminum with double thick walls. At a tensile strength of around 40,000 psi these wont bend or break unless you chuck it off a cliff or something of the nature. They are weighted on both sides perfectly balanced weighing in between 2lbs to 3.5lbs depending on length. Burn time for standard white gas is 3:30 – 5:30 minutes. Wicks will last for 1-2 years average based on use provided a practice prop is used when not performing with fire.

Practice Contact Staff
Practice props are highly recommended as practicing with your fire prop will shred your kevlar wicking and cut it’s longevity in half. It is the fasted way to burn through your hard earned cash without even burning a prop! We’d much prefer to get you a new set of Fire Poi or Levi wand then re-wick your staff twice a year.
These are available with 3 choices of material to fit your practice style preference.
Plastic: The lightest weight and most forgiving of the available materials. This is great when learning fast flow styles and tosses as it reduces risk of injury. However this does also have a slight bounce that while learning contact will require much more fluid motions. This is great for more advanced contact performers looking to make their flow more crisp but may slow the learning process for the brand new artist. Available in 3/4 & 1 inch diameter and should not be kept for long periods in hot cars.
Aluminum: We call this our rehearsal staff as it is made to match the fire staff but with soft rubber weighted ends instead of Kevlar wicks. This presents a significant advantage when practicing choreography or drilling that new trick. However it is the least forgiving model for those free form flow practices. Available in 3/4 & 1 inch diameter and durable enough to last a lifetime with no care notes.
Wood:Â A good middle of the road practice prop. Forgiving enough to reduce risk of injury and sturdy enough to feel similar to your fire prop. This is the go to for the vast majority of fire dancers as it is well suited for whatever the stye you’re looking to learn. They are vailable in 3/4 & 1 inch diameter up to 48 inch length only and 1″ diameter for sizes 54″ thru 66″.

Important Fire Safety Notes
If you play with fire you might get burned. To minimize this risk always have a Fire Safety Blanket and a spotter. Like it’s more fun when someones watching anyway right? So toss your friends a safety blanket & blow their minds! If you don’t have one, add it to your order before checkout. Play at your own risk, & play safe!
